And So It Begins - Again

I've started work on my July page. There are a lot of symbolic things in this one, and they all make sense - but only to me, and will require some explanation at the end. But that's the best part about personal journaling. You're writing - or in this case, beading - for an audience of one and you don't really have to explain a thing. Then again, if you have a Swiss cheese memory like I do . . .

One of the most important things I've realized from participating in this Bead Journal Project is the personal decision to change my focus from making jewelry to making art. I'm happier and less crazed this way. Which is not to say i won't be making jewelry as well. It's just not my focus right now.

And here is how my most recent piece came out at the end (click on the pic to get a better look at the spiral work):

  1. Fabulous focus beads.
    What are they?

I just finished my June page today.
    Tonight I begin again.

I love the symbology aspect to pieces. I'll check in at the end to learn yours.

  3. Thanks so much for the progress pics. I am not a beader at all, and all the other wonderful pics are don't really show how you should go about things.
    Thanks!! Love it so far.

  7. Another great start. I look forward to seeing July completed. I really like the necklace too, is that regular spiral, or something new? Either way the beads are nicely placed.

  8. How interesting it is for me to see how you layout the piece, add your focal elements and then fill it all in!!!!! I've never thought of doing it that way... maybe I'll give it a try!

  12. You work in a very methodical manner and I thank you for showing so many pics so we can see your process. Do you have the overall design in your head to start or just what you have sketched on your backing? I see you add to the drawing as you go but...
I love to watch your work as it grows.

  14. Morwyn --

I not only love your choice of colors in your piece but your design elements, too. I was wondering how you were going to top your June piece and I am certain you are well on your way to doing just that!
